Poetry of Issue 9: Some Kind of a Lady

Some Kind of a Lady

At the meeting a lady becomes unhinged,

lets her frustration go. I try to remain

a lady, no matter the temperament

in the room. A lady is a lady is a lady.

And time showcases many great ladies;

Cleopatra, in her reign, Marie Curie

in her lab, to actress Audrey Hepburn

elegant, perfect with her hat and gloves.

Jean Harlow, screen siren, sexy lady.

We can say the housewife, the cashier lady,

the lady lawyer, the lady astronaut,

the lady judge. A woman on a street

corner with bags around is a “bag lady.”

In a song luck is told to be “a lady.”

We can find different types of “ladies,”

and “Lady” is the name of a famous dog,

I don’t want to be “loose” out there. But life’s

what it is, still, I try to keep myself

hinged right, and be some kind of a lady.
