Home Planet News

a journal of literature & art

Hello, Planeteers!

As you may already know, Frank Murphy, who captained the Home Planet mothership over the course of many years, recently stepped down. We join readers & past contributors alike in thanking Frank for his tremendous work. Fortunately, Frank remains on board–officially as an editor, unofficially as guru–for which we are grateful.

Our new mission is to produce several issues of Home Planet each year. To that end, the current issue includes only poetry. We felt, as we learned the ropes, that working with the genre with which we were most familiar would be the best path forward. As a result, we hope you’ll agree that we’ve assembled an eclectic & electric selection of poetry.

You may have also noticed that we’ve showcased the work of a visual artist. If you haven’t, please take time to check out Lou Jones’s photos from his “Distressed” series in our current issue. In subsequent issues of Home Planet, we plan to expand the visual artist feature. Please see submission guidelines for more information.

In addition, beginning with our next issue, Home Planet will once more accept fiction as well as poetry submissions. (Again, see submission guidelines.) We may, in the future, incorporate other genres, too, so we hope you’ll keep coming back to Home Planet to see what we’re up to.

In the meantime, thanks for visiting Home Planet. Enjoy!
