A Crocus Poem
Winter, a crazy uncle
who overstays his welcome–
a single crocus shows him
the door. A crocus
is also a gatekeeper.
After she blooms, many
other flowers decide
that they’re ready
to bud too. Or
seven purple crocuses,
a small but vital fire.
Even one crocus,
by the front door,
sings loudly
in silence.
