Bargaining in the Eye of Terror
We need buildings
with joint chiropractic-psychiatric clinics
so people can accept things they cannot change
as they work out the wry neck symptoms
and misaligned spinal columns
coinciding with every extreme cartoon head tilt
accompanying recognition
of someone egregiously attacking a position
they’d previously defended,
making a non-euclidean,
irreconcilable gap
that cracks, stretches, and knots your brain stem
if you try bridging its chasm,
or applying closure to the fissure,
and intent won’t save you in its ravine either,
in broken spaces resisting any imposed will,
instead forcing consistency to stretch over its chaos,
dissolve on a molecular level,
and reform into the suits of human certainty
ruinous powers wear while walking among us
reassuringly.
