Stephen C. Middleton
Justify
It is as if,
Shamed again in etiquette,
Retreats
Undermined, bereft
But, then, as days elapse,
Ellipsis
Why put one’s head
Above the parapet
At all?
But…can get lost
In declensions, anomalies
As long, perhaps,
As one can justify lines
(Left, of course)
And transcendence
Always means success (outwardly)
And, thus, legitimacy
Whether making amends
Or truly inspired
Whatever fires the vision
Whatever the source –
Moan or majesty
Atonement is
Beyond the remit of the reader,
However.
