A Buddha's Reflection in Broken Glass
Each shard holds a different smile,
serene lips multiplied in fragments—
enlightenment scattered across
the temple’s shattered mirror.
One piece shows just the eyes,
ancient wisdom fractured into
countless ways of seeing
through illusion’s veil.
In another, half a lotus hand
reaches through the break,
offering peace in pieces,
wholeness in what’s broken.
The floor becomes a constellation
of awakened moments, each
reflection telling truth from
a different angle of forever.
Even in destruction,
the Buddha’s face remains calm—
teaching that perfection lives
in what we think is ruined.
These broken bits of light
hold more dharma than
any single polished surface,
more truth in their divisions.
I gather understanding
from the geometry of chance,
finding that the path to wisdom
sometimes leads through shattered things.
In each glinting fragment,
the Buddha smiles and nods,
knowing that enlightenment
wears the face of what is broken.
