John Martino
American Sonnet 36
When you wish upon a tsar,
wise men blunder from afar.
Holy fuck! Is that your truck?
Each tire is wider than the sky.
Watch it crush the electric car
flat as a flat earth pancake. Goodbye,
Columbus! Hello, Toledo!
I left my heart inside a tuxedo.
Est perdido, my libido.
Mark but this mosquito
on your cheek. I clap death
with one hand. Where I aim
is where I am, is my Apollo Credo.
Where I aim and don’t give a damn.
