Fun and Funny

About as much fun
as horses in the house.
A severed finger on my cereal.
A mouse under the bedcovers.

Former class clown,
king of comedians,
you’re about as funny as a dog
coughing up a bone.

Always cracking wise,
when life’s too short for gags
about a monkey juggling chainsaws.
Or rip in gravity’s continuum.
Or tissue paper gallows.
Or tyrant’s toothbrush.

Or that joke that lasted
all our lives. An old joke,
older than stone and time.
The one about the graveyard
and we all died laughing.
